The laying on of hands is an act of service one to another that takes place when a person places one hand or both hands upon the body of another person with the intent to convey healing or instilling special blessings. Often the person receiving the laying on of hands will be prayed for at the same time.

Laying on of hands is a technique that has been used in various forms throughout the world for thousands of years. It is as natural as a mother’s touch of her children or our touching of our own body when it is hurt. The principle might be stated as a loving energy flowing from the hands into the body. The hands of the “healer” must contact with the body of the sick person. The healing energy does not come from the “healer” but from a higher power through the “healer” to the recipient.
