This is an introduction into the area of complementary medicine known as energy therapy or energy medicine.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has established a research center, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and a related web site with information on research being conducted in this area.
See: http://www.nccam.nih.gov/.

Energy medicine is a domain in NCCAM that deals with energy fields of two types. This description focuses on a type of energy field known as bio-fields.

Examples of practices or therapies involving bio-fields include:

  • Bio-Touch ™
  • Healing Touch ™
  • Qi gong, a Chinese practice
  • Reiki and Johrei, both of Japanese origin
  • Therapeutic Touch™

The most demonstrable benefits of energy therapies are rapid pain relief, immediate calming, and stress reduction, accompanied by a feeling of well being. Energy therapies generally produce observable results quickly without causing undue emotional stress. Energy therapy is intended for use as a compliment to standard medical treatment.

Energy therapy is often referred to as energy healing or touch healing. The specific modalities that I utilize are: Bio-Touch™, Reiki, EFT and laying-on of hands.

Another type of energy therapy is known as distant healing. In this modality the healer and the healee (recipient) are separated (any distance).

The following pages explain each of these modalities in brief:

What is Bio-Touch™
What is REIKI?
What is Distant Healing?

What is Laying on of Hands?
What is EFT?

Notice:
Energy therapy is intended for use as a complement to allopathic (standard) medical procedures. This information is not intended to induce anyone to discontinue any medication or recommended medical treatment. Each person reacts differently to energy therapy, and therefore, no guarantees can be made as to its effectiveness. This is provided for educational and informational purposes only, and is not intended to be a substitute for professional consultation. Please consult an appropriate health care provider about the applicability of any opinions or recommendations with respect to your own symptoms or medical conditions.
